Airwars assessment

Between two and three civilians including a girl died and as many as dozens more were wounded in an airstrike on Jisr al Shoughour, local media reported – though reports were conflicted as to whether Russia or the Syrian regime were responsible.

According to Baladi, “10 people were injured due to regime warplanes shelling with missiles in a refugee camp near Jisir Al-shoghour near the Turkish borders.” It later reported that three people were also killed in the attack.

Hawar also blamed the regime but said there were no reports of casualties.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights said that the regime had dropped cluster bombs on the town, putting the death toll at two.

But other sources – the Shaam News Network, 24_Akhbary, the Step News Agency, LCCSY, EMC and the Smart News Agency attributed the event to Russia, putting the death count at two non-combatants.

A number of sources didn’t identify the warplanes that carried out the attack. Saqb reported the death of two men, while Baladid said three people died with “dozens” more wounded.

On September 12th, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that “a girl died from wounds she’d sustained in an aerial bombardments at areas in Jisr al-Shughur city two days ago.”

Jisiralshughour1 – blaming “warplanes” – listed the victims.
