(Previous Incident Code: DEBJO260301b )
On March 1, 2026, a man named Omar Abdul Rahman Al-Bakhit Obeidat was injured by falling debris from an alleged Iranian missile in the village of Kufr Soum in the Bani Kinanah district of Irbid governorate, North Jordan.
The day of the strike, Jordanian media channel Al-Mamlaka TV reported that “a fifth person was injured in Irbid Governorate and is receiving treatment. Shrapnel also caused material damage to 11 vehicles and 19 homes.” Around 10:00 a.m., Taiz Time reported “Jordan: five injuries from falling shrapnel.” This figure represented the total number of injuries in Jordan on March 1, 2026. The previous four injuries in Jordan were covered in Airwars incident IRJO260301a.
Facebook user @Yousef Qtaesh reported that in “Irbid, a person was injured by shrapnel from a projectile in the town of Kufrsoum.” According to the ‘Irbid City’ Facebook account, “a citizen was injured by shrapnel from an aerial projectile in the town of Kafrsoum and was transferred to Yarmouk Hospital north of Irbid.” Both sources shared photos of people gathered around large sections of debris, which appear to be as large – if not larger than – an average adult human. Irbid News Platform reported that the District Governor of Bani Kinanah, Khaldoun Artima Al-Abadi “reassured the public that the injured man’s condition is good and stable.”
A video posted by Kafrsoum News 24/24 showed a section of debris falling from the sky above a residential area. As the object nears the ground, it disappears behind a group of densely-built homes. The clip’s caption reads, “the moment shrapnel fell on the house of Professor Faisal Hamza Obeidat. Thank God, things turned out alright without any material or human losses.”
The ‘Smadi Lawyers and Legal Consultants’ Facebook account provided further details about the injured civilian, writing that “today in Irbid, specifically in the Kafrsoum area of the Bani Kinanah district. a young Jordanian man named Omar Obeidat was standing in his garden. He wasn’t doing anything, just waiting for the Maghrib prayer call […] Minutes before the call to prayer began, suddenly, a piece of shrapnel from a projectile fell and struck him directly […] Omar was transported to Yarmouk Governmental Hospital […] It turned out he had a spinal injury, and his brother said something heartbreaking: “He can’t feel his left leg.”
In an interview with Akhbar Kfarsoum 24/24, Omar Abdullah Obeidat recounted his experience of the incident, explaining that “I was clearing weeds from under the olive tree in my house when I heard something hit the olive tree. It fell on my back and threw me to the ground. I was afraid another blow would come from the same spot, so I crawled to the balcony and shouted for my children and family. Then the Civil Defense came and took me away. I couldn’t walk; my leg had a severe muscle spasm, and I couldn’t move. I stayed like that for four hours (…) I’m still suffering from dizziness.”
Speaking to the same news channel, Omar’s brother, Arar, stated that Omar was transported by members of Jordan’s Civil Defense to Yarmouk Hospital where he underwent X-rays and a CT scan. These scans reportedly revealed a spinal injury that resulted in the loss of feeling in Omar’s left leg.
A Facebook post published by the Diwan of the Al-Obaidat clan prayed for Omar’s recovery, saying, “We ask God Almighty to grant the young man Omar Abdul Rahman Al-Bakhit Obeidat a speedy recovery, to relieve his pain, and to bestow upon him health and well-being. O God, ease his suffering, restore his health and strength, grant him patience and peace, bless his family and loved ones, and make these trials a source of strength for him in this life and the hereafter. O God, heal all the sick and protect our youth from all harm.”
Many sources, including @Irbid News Platform on Facebook, shared images of the munition remnant (apparently a missile shell), which appears to be a large, cylinder-formed object.
One source, Khaberni on Facebook, specified that Omar had been injured by shrapnel from an Iranian missile. Therefore, this incident has been graded as “single source claim” until further information is found as to the responsible belligerent.
