An Indian national sustained minor injuries as a result of debris from the intercepted alleged Iranian missile falling on a residential area in the al-Shawamekh area of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Monday, March 23, 2026. The name of the victim was not found among local sources.
@AJABreaking reported an injury sustained by an Indian national after the successful interception of a ballistic missile by air defenses. In reporting the incident, Al Jazeera was referring to the Abu Dhabi Media Office. Emergency teams responded to the scene after air defence systems dealt with the incoming missile, with debris landing in a residential area, the UAE authorities added.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the missile strike to the Iranian military. However, the air defenses of the UAE were also reportedly involved in the missile’s interception, according to a statement from the UAE specifying that “UAE Air Defences engaged Iranian Ballistic and Cruise Missiles and UAVs Attacks,” intercepting 25 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and 4 ballistic missiles in the latest wave of Iranian “attacks”. Therefore, the strike status has been classified as “contested”.
