On 8 March 2026, three civilians were reported injured in Bahrain when missile fragments fell in the Muharraq area, near Manama. The identities of those injured were not found among local sources. This assessment will be updated if additional information emerges.

The day of the reported incident, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior announced via Twitter/X that “as a result of the blatant Iranian aggression… three people were injured and material damage was inflicted on a university building in the Muharraq area after missile fragments fell.” It is unclear from the reporting whether the injured civilians were inside the university building when they sustained their injuries, or whether they were injured in a nearby location from the same falling debris.

A photo shared by @Al Taghier Channel on Facebook showed a university building with shattered windows on the ground and first floor, and damage to the corner of the building on the ground floor. The ground around the building is covered with shattered glass, some rubble and other building materials. However, the majority of the building appears unscathed.

Multiple sources also claimed that a desalination plant sustained material damage. However, this damage was reportedly caused by an Iranian drone attack, which appears to be a separate incident from the falling debris that injured the three civilians. Bahrain’s Interior Ministry claimed that the desalination plant was damaged “following a drone attack” by Iran, without specifying the location of the plant. Conversely, reports about the three injured civilians and damaged university building all state that the event was caused by falling missile fragments.

Due to the repetitive nature of the sources, this incident has been graded as a “single source claim,” with a civilian casualty grading of “weak.”
