On Sunday, April 5, 2026, six people were reportedly injured – including two critically – by a projectile explosion in the Nahrawan area southeast of Baghdad, Iraq.
At 6:27 p.m. local time on April 5, Al Jazeera, citing a police source and marked as “urgent”, reported “six injured in a projectile explosion southeast of Baghdad.” On Facebook, Al Hadath Channel reported the same information and posted a video taken at night showing a plane parked on a runway with a fire seemingly blazing in the distance behind it. @Utv News cited security sources in reporting the same injury toll, but specified that two victims were “in critical condition” as a result of “a projectile explosion in the Nahrawan area.”
None of the available sources attributed the projectile to a particular belligerent. Therefore, all parties to the conflict at the time have been listed and the incident has been graded as having a “contested” strike status.
