Airwars assessment

Referring to this incident as a “massacre”, multiple sources reported that Russian or Assad-waged warplanes struck the city of Kafr Nabil, Idlib, killing up to seven civilians largely from one family – wounding “dozens” more.

According to Orient News’s sources on the ground, “the Russian air force targeted the city of Kafr Nabil west of Maarat al-Nu’man with eight air raids, the heaviest of which were two in the middle of the night. These raids demolished civilian houses in the center of the town and killed seven martyrs and a wounded a number of other people”.

Multiple sources added that the warplanes had dropped the internationally-banned cluster bombs.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, five of the victims came from the same family, including one of the child and a woman. In total, eight victims were identified by name, seven of them were from the al-Bayoush family.

While almost all sources attributed blame to Russia, RFS Media Office, identified the Syrian regime as the culprit. In a chilling quote, the source said: “One of the pilots of the Assad regime vowed to burn the city of Kafarnubul, according to a clip broadcast on social networking sites”.
