In what was described as a “massacre”, alleged Russian airstrikes killed up to 17civilians and wounded several more in the village of Abo al-Fashafeesh, eastern Hama, local media reported.

Sources reported between seven and eight victims, however, none of these was identified by gender, age or name.

Enab Baladi cited the local council of the district who said that “more than seven were killed and 20 injured, as a result of Russian targeting a gathering of displaced people in the village of Abu al-Fashafeesh, a village of Akirbat.”

Syria_GID reported that “17 civilians were killed by Russian warplanes bombing the town of Umm al-Fashavish with burning phosphorus”.

Al-Modon and Step News Agency reported that both the Syrian regime and Russia had carried out airstrikes in Hama on August 25th, however, the specific strikes in Al-Fashafeesh were attributed to Russia. The remaining sources agreed, all pointing to Russia.
