Two to seven civilians were reported killed in airstrikes on Hezarin, Idlib, May 27th.

Shahba News initially claimed that three were killed in the strikes from the same family, including one child, later reporting six deaths and “dozens wounded”. Edlib Media Center initially reported two killed, yet also stated that the figure rose to six as understanding of the events unfolded.

Both the Local Coordination Committee for Syria and Idlib Plus named six fatalities, including a father and a son.

Shahba Press referred to “Syrian and Russian raids”, as did a number of other sources, while others named either the Syrian regime or Russia as responsible for the attack.

Idlib Plus stated that there were eight airstrikes, while other sources reported the use of cluster munitions.

Shaam News wrote that “Russian warplanes continue to bombard the cities and towns of rural Idlib,” later stating that “the Assad forces are carrying out a genocide, with clear Russian political support, across the southern Idlib countryside.”

According to this source, there was a clear “focus on bombing major markets, cities and communities, and displacing thousands from their homes” in the attacks.

Also referring to the airstrikes on Ariha the same day, Shaam News reported that “the death of 18 civilians, mostly children and women” on May 27th represented a “continuing of a systematic genocide against civilians, amid the silence of the world.”
