Alleged Russian warplanes heavily bombed the village of Jdaria in Syria at 13:22 on January 21, 2020, killing at least two girls and injuring two other civilians.

According to Al Jazeera News, quoting the Syrian Civil Defense, two girls were killed in Russian airstrikes on the village of Jdaria. The two girls, Aida al-Khalid and her sister, Ritaj al-Khalid, only four and five years old were among the victims of the countryside bombing raids according to reports from activists on the ground who reported what they saw to Hama Gate. Both girls were from a family of IDPs from the Hama countryside.

Step Agency reported that “the Russian warplanes targeted the village of Jadraya, near the town of Ma’arat al-Na`san in the western countryside of Aleppo, with a missile strike that killed two children and wounded two others”.

Jesr Press added that in addition to the two girls that were killed, two civilians were also injured in the raids. A tweet from @feraskaram01provided a death toll of three people killed.

A tweet from @jistrv showed bombed out houses within civilian areas in the western countryside of Aleppo. In one image, a smoldering motorcycle rests against a scarred telephone pole. There are no apparent military targets in any of the images provided. The Syrian Network for Human Rights also reported that missiles struck a water tank, partially damaging the tank, in Jdaria.

The extent of the damage, according to the Step news agency, was the result of Russian strikes upon the Aleppo countryside, which the majority of other sources also reported. A tweet from @FdzPWRe6ruAGFPd pointed out that explosive missiles were used in the attack.
