Airwars assessment

At least two civilians, a child and his mother, were killed and four to five others, including three to four other children and a man, were injured in alleged Russian or regime artillery shelling of the village of Kafar Noran on November 15, 2021.

According to Hasakah News, a woman and her child were killed and four other of her children and her husband were injured in artillery shelling on a home in Kafar Noran. The correspondent for Step Agency added that the injuries were various degrees of severity and that the Syrian regime was responsible for the shelling.

Syrian Civil Defense also identified two people, a woman and a child, as being killed but put the number of injured at four, her children and her husband.

A tweet from @Ahmadmuaffaq provided the name of the young child killed: Muhammad Baha Khaled Darwish. A Facebook post from Mn.baladi also added the name of Muhammad’s mother who was killed: Umm Khaled Adnan Khaled.

Enab Baladi pointed out that Civil Defense volunteers transported the injured to the hospital and pulled out those killed from under the rubble.

Shaam News reported that following the strikes on Kafar Noran, “the rebel factions responded by targeting the strongholds of Assad’s forces in the town of Miznaz with artillery shells.”

Sources were conflicted as to who was responsible for the artillery shelling, with Zaman Al Wasl blaming the regime forces stationed in Kafr Halab while @IdlibPlus attributed the bombing to the regime and Russia and @jabha_sy pointed to Iranian militias. The Syrian Civil Defense identified laser-guided Krasnopol shells as being used in the attack

The incident occured in the morning.

The victims were named as:
