(Previous Incident Code: S1765)

A single source, Step News, reported that a number of civilians were killed and injured in the vicinity of al-Murshada and al-Safatna villages (in addition to members of ISIS), as a result of “triple artillery bombardment by the regime forces, the French artillery stationed in the Abulhassan desert, the artillery of the Iraqi army and the popular crowd (Al Hashed Al Sha’bi militia)”.

The source added that these contested actions “resulted in a number of deaths and injuries among civilians and elements of ISIS, and extensive destruction.”

It is unclear whether the source described a single incident or multiple events. No other details are known at this time.

In their February 4th 2021 monthly civilian casualty assessment report, the US-led Coalition deemed the incident ‘non-credible’, stating: “The allegation provided insufficient detail to identify a specific date, time, or location to search for corroborating Coalition action.”
