Between one and two civilians, including a woman, were killed and four others, including a woman, were injured in alleged Iranian or regime strikes on Jillin on August 29, 2021.
According to Syrian Civil Defense, two civilians were killed and four others were injured in missile and artillery shelling by the regime in the neighborhoods of Dara’a but did not specify which neighbor the civilian casualties occurred. They added that at the time of reporting, they expected the death toll to rise because there are no hospitals in Dara’a to treat those that were injured.
@freedom4daraa tweeted that one civilian was killed and others were wounded in the strikes, while @omar_alharir identified that “at least one female” was killed. A tweet from @Mustafa____2005 also reported that one woman was killed, adding that another was also injured.
@aboomer399 named the woman killed: Mrs. Hamda Eid Al-Jasim. North Press Agency reported that Hamda was 70 years old and a resident of Masakan Jillin.
Orient News pointed out that the areas in Jillin that were shelled were residential communities.
The majority of sources that reported on the incident attributed the strikes and shelling to regime forces. However, a tweet from @freedom4daraa referred to both the regime forces and Iranian militias being responsible for the shelling of Jillin.
The strikes occurred the same day that the Central Committee representing the people of the besieged areas in Daraa announced the collapse of negotiations with the Syrian regime due to the military escalation and the bombing of areas in the province.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
