Airwars Assessment

Last Updated: May 12, 2026

During the evening of Wednesday, 18th of June 2025, “a number” of policemen were reportedly injured in a declared attack by the Israeli military on the FARAJA Police Headquarters in Tehran, Iran.

According to Tasnim News Agency, after the attack, the police information centre made the following statement: “Following the aggression of the usurping and brutal [Israeli] regime, a few hours ago, some buildings around the FARAJA headquarters (the Islamic Republic of Iran’s police headquarters) were attacked, and a few of our colleagues were injured.” The Islamic Republic’s National Security Command also confirmed the injury of several people as a result of the Israeli attack on the force’s headquarters in Tehran.

The Times of Israel quoted Defense Minister Israel Katz in saying that “Israeli Air Force fighter jets just destroyed the headquarters of the Iranian regime’s internal security”. Additionally,  IDF Spokesperson, Brigadere Effie Defrin announced in a June 18 press conference that the day’s “second wave of strikes began this afternoon, during which we struck more than twenty additional targets in the Tehran area. The targets struck were part of the regime’s military weapons industry and its security apparatus.”

Under International Humanitarian Law, civilians are protected against attack “unless and for such time as” they directly participate in hostilities. As such, Airwars has classified individuals working as police officers civilians, unless local sources reported that the individual was directly participating in hostilities, in which case Airwars has classified them as a militant. As no sources reported that those harmed in this incident were participating in hostilities, those harmed have been recorded a civilians. This will be updated should additional information become available.

Tasmin News Agency also posted a statement issued by FARAJA condemning the attack and reassuring that these attacks would not destabilise the people in that region but would “strengthen” the community.

On Instagram, @iranintlvtv posted a video of the attack on the FARAJA headquarters that had been sent by an Iranian citizen. According to him, three explosions occurred in a row, and the entire area shook.

The second wave of strikes began this afternoon, during which we struck more than twenty additional targets in the Tehran area. The targets struck were part of the regime’s military weapons industry and its security apparatus. As can be seen, we struck three significant sites connected to missile production — including engines, navigation systems, and missile assembly. All of these were missiles intended for use by the regime against Israel.

The Associated Press reported: According to figures published by independent sources, Israeli attacks on Iran have so far left at least 639 dead and 1,329 wounded. This figure includes all Iranian victims, and among the dead, the identities of 263 civilians and 154 security forces have so far been determined. The Associated Press added that the Iranian regime has not provided a regular count of war casualties and has downplayed the casualties in previous reports. The latest official report, released on Monday, had put the number of dead at 224 and wounded at 1,277. The Associated Press reported today, 29 April, that a missile fired by Iran hit the main hospital in southern Israel early Thursday. Hospital officials said that as a result of the attack, a number of people were injured and that the hospital suffered “extensive damage.” The Associated Press added: In separate attacks, Iranian missiles targeted a residential skyscraper in Tel Aviv and several other locations in central Israel. According to the Israeli relief organization, at least 40 people were injured in the attacks and six were reported to be in serious condition. The state-run Mehr news agency wrote on Thursday, June 19: The information center of the police force announced in a statement: "A few hours ago, some buildings of the Faraj headquarters were attacked and a few of our colleagues were injured." The regime's Atomic Energy Organization confirmed the attack on the heavy water nuclear facility in Khandab in a statement on Thursday, June 19, and wrote: "Israel, continuing its aggression and actions that violate international law that prohibits attacks on nuclear facilities, attacked the Khandab research reactor and heavy water complex this morning." The Israeli army issued a statement on Thursday, saying, "The attack was carried out on components of the reactor's plutonium production in order to prevent it from returning its capability to producing nuclear weapons." State media outlets reported the hacking of the regime's radio and television networks under the title "Disruption of the Broadcasting Service's signals." The regime's official news agency, IRNA, wrote: "If you see interference or irrelevant messages while watching various television channels, it is due to the enemy's interference on satellite waves." The Khabar Network TV also confirmed the hacking of the television and said: .. News Section 21 and listeners of the National Radio of Your Service, I would like to inform you that if you see irrelevant messages on your television screen and you are in areas where you receive the Broadcasting Service signal via satellite, be aware that seeing these messages is due to interference by the Zionist enemy on the satellite. The regime's Ministry of Communications imposed new restrictions on the Internet network in Iran. The announcement from the regime’s Ministry of Communications states: “Given the continuing special conditions in the country and the aggressor’s misuse of the country’s communications network for military purposes and threats to people’s lives and property, by decision of the competent authorities, temporary restrictions have been imposed on users’ access to the internet.” Referring to the restrictions and shutdown of the internet, the state-run newspaper Etemad wrote: “90 million Iranians are caught up in a devastating war. How many millions of Iranians abroad are heartbroken for their country and their families? In these circumstances, instead of facilitating Iranians’ communication with each other, are we leaving them unaware and without efficient means of communication?!” This government source warned: “Cutting and restricting the internet, severe filtering, and disabling the means of connecting digital communication devices will certainly increase severe social discontent even more than before.”

Even as the eyes of many remain focused on Iran, IDF soldiers continue to operate on other fronts. These operations come at a heavy cost. This evening, we informed the family of Staff Sergeant Stav Halfon that their son fell in battle today during operations in the southern Gaza Strip. Our hearts are with the family during this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing. This evening as well, dozens of Israeli Air Force aircraft continue to strike a series of military targets and assets across Iran. The aim of the operation is to eliminate the existential threat to the State of Israel, significantly damage Iran’s nuclear program in all its components, and severely impact its missile array. We have additional targets, and we are determined to achieve them. In the past 24 hours, we have launched three major waves of strikes. The first wave took place overnight: more than fifty IAF fighter jets struck around forty targets in the Tehran area. We are focusing on Tehran. Among the targets struck was a centrifuge production site, a key component in the Iranian regime’s efforts to enrich uranium. Another target struck tonight was a site near Tehran used to manufacture anti-tank missiles. The Iranian regime used this site to produce hundreds of missiles that were transferred over the years to Hezbollah. These missiles also armed the regime’s proxies throughout the Middle East. Tonight, IAF jets reached the very source of the missile production — missiles that have been used against the State of Israel — and neutralized it. After significantly weakening the regime’s proxies over the past 20 months, we are now dismantling its own core capabilities. The third wave of strikes began a short while ago and is focused on western Iran. IAF aircraft are flying over launch and storage sites for surface-to-surface missiles. The jets are targeting operatives attempting to re-access and remove munitions from sites that were previously struck. Our message to them is clear: if you attempt to rebuild your terror capabilities in the region, you will be struck. We are systematically targeting Iran’s missile infrastructure. The IAF is flying over Iran and hunting down launchers. These strikes are enabling sustained operational freedom until the war’s objectives are fully achieved. Let me remind you: we launched this operation to remove an existential threat. We will act as long as necessary to accomplish the mission, as defined by the political level. Alongside these achievements, we must remember that the Iranian regime still retains significant capabilities. Even if the number of launches has decreased, we must not become complacent under any circumstances. We must remain alert and vigilant. The Home Front Command continues to conduct regular situational assessments. The goal is to prioritize the protection of civilians while easing daily life as much as possible under the shadow of ongoing combat. An updated civil defense policy was published today as part of this effort. Among other measures, the policy allows a return to workplaces and expands the permitted size of gatherings in locations equipped with a protected space. Please review the updated guidelines in full— these guidelines save lives. We will continue to update them as the situation evolves. This evening, I want to once again commend your resilience and composure. As we mark the sixth day of the operation in Iran, we constantly remember that it is also the 621st day of a prolonged war that was forced upon us. Earlier today, the Chief of the General Staff visited the Gaza Division and held a situational assessment with the Commanding Officer of the Southern Command and division commanders. The Chief of the General Staff expressed his gratitude to the forces in Gaza, who continue to operate with the goal of dismantling Hamas. The IDF bears the responsibility of restoring security and enabling the return of the 53 hostages still held by the Hamas terror organization. Download:
