Airwars Assessment
During the evening of Wednesday, 18th of June 2025, “a number” of policemen were reportedly injured in a declared attack by the Israeli military on the FARAJA Police Headquarters in Tehran, Iran.
According to Tasnim News Agency, after the attack, the police information centre made the following statement: “Following the aggression of the usurping and brutal [Israeli] regime, a few hours ago, some buildings around the FARAJA headquarters (the Islamic Republic of Iran’s police headquarters) were attacked, and a few of our colleagues were injured.” The Islamic Republic’s National Security Command also confirmed the injury of several people as a result of the Israeli attack on the force’s headquarters in Tehran.
The Times of Israel quoted Defense Minister Israel Katz in saying that “Israeli Air Force fighter jets just destroyed the headquarters of the Iranian regime’s internal security”. Additionally, IDF Spokesperson, Brigadere Effie Defrin announced in a June 18 press conference that the day’s “second wave of strikes began this afternoon, during which we struck more than twenty additional targets in the Tehran area. The targets struck were part of the regime’s military weapons industry and its security apparatus.”
Under International Humanitarian Law, civilians are protected against attack “unless and for such time as” they directly participate in hostilities. As such, Airwars has classified individuals working as police officers civilians, unless local sources reported that the individual was directly participating in hostilities, in which case Airwars has classified them as a militant. As no sources reported that those harmed in this incident were participating in hostilities, those harmed have been recorded a civilians. This will be updated should additional information become available.
Tasmin News Agency also posted a statement issued by FARAJA condemning the attack and reassuring that these attacks would not destabilise the people in that region but would “strengthen” the community.
On Instagram, @iranintlvtv posted a video of the attack on the FARAJA headquarters that had been sent by an Iranian citizen. According to him, three explosions occurred in a row, and the entire area shook.
