A woman was killed while at work by an alleged Israeli airstrike on the Tavanir Company building in Tehran, Iran at 11:15 a.m. on June 23, 2025.
Shargh Media Group reported that 42-year-old Dr. Neda Rafiei Parsa, a university professor and one of the managers of Tavanir Company – a power generation and distribution company – was killed at her workplace. Neda had a doctorate degree in GIS engineering and statistics from Amirkabir University.
A colleague Masoud Ghasemi, a member of the board of directors, told Shargh Media Group that Neda “entered this industry with the elite quota and was very committed to her work and expertise. This same commitment to work had led her to voluntarily attend work that day, despite the announcement that only 30 percent of the employees of the executive agencies in Tehran were active.” Colleague Masoud also mentioned that employees had purposely come in during the morning to move computers and equipment from a previous bombing based on the pattern of bombings occurring in the afternoon. Masoud further explained that Neda had only been in the damaged building for 10 or 15 minutes to retrieve files when the explosion occurred: “With the sound of the first explosion, we rushed all the colleagues present in the building to the outside area. While we were lying on the ground next to the adjacent walls, one of the colleagues shouted that Ms. Parsa was inside the building. At that moment, I hurriedly went to the building. No matter how much I called her, I didn’t hear a response. Since she wasn’t in her room, I thought to myself that she might have been thrown by the blast wave. I went after her and found that she was lying on the floor in one of the rooms and bleeding profusely. There had been a direct hit and a heavy attack. A short while later, the emergency services arrived, but to no avail.” The article from Shargh Media Group later explained that shrapnel from the explosion had passed through the wall of the room Neda was in and struck her, and included an image of Neda smiling in a royal blue hijab.
Another colleague and family member named Amireh Nikkhah told Shargh Media Group that Neda was hardworking, diligent, and intelligent, adding that “she was the only daughter in the family and had been married for three years. She was not the type of person who would give up work for the sake of her home and personal life, and sometimes she would stay at her workplace until 11 at night to finish her work. Neda had portrayed the concern for development and progress in work well.” According to Amireh, Neda, who managed the statistics group at Tavanir Company, had arrived at around 9:30am and the bombing occurred at 11:15am.
A video posted on Aparat reportedly showed the CEO of Tavanir Company paying tribute to Neda while viewing the damage sustained by the building.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all source attributed the attack to the Israeli military.
