On June 23, 2025, a 50-year-old nuclear scientist, Dr. Soleiman Soleimani, was killed in an alleged Israeli airtstike on Iran. The exact location of his death is unknown, although one source (ghalamabi.ir) indicated his place of death as Tehran.
According to Tasnim News Agency, the Iran University of Science and Technology announced that engineer Soleiman Soleimani, a graduate of its chemical engineering department, was killed in Israeli strikes. Dr. Soleimani was reportedly a key scientist in Iran’s nuclear program and worked in the country’s research and scientific centers, possibly in connection with the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran or the Defense Research and Innovation Organization (Sapand). His expertise in nuclear engineering and related technologies made him a key player in sensitive defense projects. Some sources have described him as “responsible for the military nuclear program,” although these claims have not been confirmed by official Iranian sources.
The farewell ceremony for the scientist took place in the the Ghadir Mosque in his home city of Noor. In a heartfelt tribute for the scientist, Instagram account @killedbyisrael2025 wrote: “Like the name of his birthplace, Soleiman was a light for his family, friends, colleagues, and every single Iranian. Like the martyred nuclear scientists, his love and passion for the country and his day-to-day efforts were known to everyone.”
Many sources shared an image of late Dr. Soleimani who was a middle-aged man with dark hair and a dark trimmed beard.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
