One person was killed and up to two persons were injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike on a garage for machinery and bulldozers located next to inhabited homes in the southern Lebanese village of Deir Seryan (Marjayoun district) in the Nabatieh governorate on 6 August 2025. According to the sources, the victims were working in the garage.

The death of Aboud al-Yahya al-Fares was confirmed by multiple sources, such as Ammar Khayra (Facebook) and @RatroutaTBF (X). Other posts, like those of Ammar Khayra (Facebook), referred to him as Aboud al-Yahya al-Fares. A-Yahya was a Syrian national and originated from the town of Hazima, north of Raqqa Governorate. He worked in a machinery garage. Some referred to him as a refugee.

Some sources mentioned that one civilian was injured, while others claimed that there were two injuries. In particular, the day after the incident, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health published a casualty update mentioning one killed Syrian national and two wounded. The sources do not mention the names of the two injured persons.

One now deleted post by Ali Al-Shammari on Facebook mentions there were no casualties in the air strike.

According to bintjbeil.org (http://bintjbeil.org) (Facebook), Al-Yahya and the other two wounded people were working in the garage in Deir Seryan. His cousin Abdallah al-Junaid ( عبدالله الجنيد ) wrote on Facebook: ‘To God we belong and to Him we shall return. My cousin, Aboud Al-Yahya Al-Fares, was martyred in southern Lebanon after an Israeli bombardment this morning. I ask God to accept you among the martyrs, Abu Adam.’

The post was accompanied by a picture of three men, one of them wearing a yellow vest with the logo of the Hayaa Soheye emergency service, carrying a black body bag. Another picture showed a man sitting on the balcony of an apartment, with a beard and mustache, wearing a blue striped long-sleeve shirt and body warmer, sitting on a white plastic chair with a phone in his hand.

Other accounts, such as ديرالزور تجمعنا (‘Deir Ezzor unites us’) on Facebook, posted a selfie made by a man with a mustache wearing a black sweater and with the background of an empty pool and a hookah or waterpipe.

A picture posted by @MarMarkosEgSat on X shows big smoke columns from a distance as a result of multiple air strikes in the area.

According to @unewsagency2 (X), posting a video of the site the day after, the strike hit a garage for vehicles and bulldozers. The video shows burned and destroyed buildings and vehicles, such as bulldozers.

Images posted by Beit Alsahaf on Facebook also show the remains of one or multiple buildings that were hit in the airstrike and damaged vehicles.

On the day that Aboud was reportedly killed, the Israel Air Force posted to their official Telegram account, writing that “The Air Force recently attacked terrorist targets of the terrorist organization Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Among the targets attacked were: weapons depots, a launcher, and infrastructure of the organization where engineering tools were stored that were used to restore terrorist infrastructures in the area.” The post went on to say that “The terrorist organization Hezbollah continues its attempts to restore terrorist infrastructures throughout Lebanon, while putting Lebanese citizens at risk and using them as human shields.” While this statement is not enough to update this incident’s strike status from likely to declared, it’s included in this incident as it explicitly mentions Israeli military activity vis-a-vis reconstruction efforts in southern Lebanon, and specifically “infrastructure which stored engineering tools” – which matches descriptions of the location where Aboud was killed. This will be updated should additional information become available.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
