Airwars assessment
On September 23rd 2024, at least 11 people, including at least two children and four women, were reportedly killed in the Al-Sour countryside in south Lebanon by alleged Israeli airstrikes. Among those killed were a Syrian farming family, originally from the village of Ruwashied (رويشد) in the countryside of northern Deir Ezzor, Syria.
Abdul Matar Malihi Al-Jadaan, his wife Aid(a) Hassan Al-Habib, their sons Asad Abdul Matar Al-Jadaan and Laith Abdul Matar Al-Jadaan, and their daughters Lian Abdul Matar Al-Jadaan, Hiba Abdul Matar Al-Jadaan and Maryam Abdul Matar Al-Jadaan were all reportedly killed in the strike. Their son-in-law Muhammad Ali Al-Jadaan, granddaughter (daughter of Muhammad) Eileen Muhammad Al-Jadaan and grandson Ayman Suleiman Hussein Al-Jadaan were also reportedly killed.
Source Nahermedia also listed Muhammad Ali Al-Saeed alongside the other fatalities in this strike. Facebook user Mohammad Al-Saloum was the only source that put the death toll as high as fourteen – claiming they were all members of the same family.
Friends and relatives of the victims expressed their grief in social media posts. Facebook user Al-Marai Al-Rakiwat posted “May God grant you safety.”
Facebook users Ramadan Al-Kabisi Abu Taha and Mohammad Al-Saloum Abu Jameel extended “condolences” and “sympathy.” Another user, Naif Al-Harbiye, posted referencing the “martyrdom” of the family.
A Facebook picture tribute to the family from Mohammad Al-Saloum Abu Jameel showed Abdul Matar Malihi Al-Jadaan and his three sons. Another Facebook tribute with pictures showed Abdul Matar Malihi Al-Jadaan with two of his sons and three young children, likely his grandchildren.
On Twitter @Urkinta tweeted about the bombing with the same photo of Abdul Matar Malihi Al-Jadaan.
Syrian press outlet Naher Media tweeted the name of the family and a photo of Abdul Matar Malihi Al-Jadaan on the day of the alleged strike, following up with the names of the family members the following day. Another Syrian media outlet Deir Ezzor News, posted that 10 people were killed, most of them from one family working on farms. Ain Issa Press also reported on the incident.
When sources mentioned a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to the Israeli military.

Reports of the incident mention the al Sour countryside (الريف الحامض) in the Tyre District (منطقة الاطارات), for which the generic coordinates are: 33.212203, 35.275188. Due to limited satellite imagery and information available to Airwars, we were unable to verify the location further.
