Airwars assessment
On September 23rd 2024, at least one civilian was reportedly killed following an alleged Israeli raid on the town of Tyre Filsay in south Lebanon.
Among the victims was Ali Hussein Al-Sagheer, known as Abu Ali, from the city of Bint Jbeil. Neighbours and relatives shared their grief on social media. On Facebook, his neighbour Al-Rida recounted how Ali Hussein was known by everyone in Bint Jbeil. According to a Facebook post by Ali Hussein’s cousin, Waleed Ibrahim, he was killed due to “Israeli bombing” – as this is the only source which attributed the strike to Israel, this incident has been graded as a “single source claim”.
Ypagency reported more than 10 people were killed in the attack. Due to the lack of specificity with the locations, this incident has been assessed separately from two other incidents which also occurred in Tyre Filsay, ISLB230924zy and ISLB230924zd. To avoid duplication, the casualty range has been set at 1 to 11 to account for the possibility that the civilian harm toll provided by Ypagency encompasses these other two incidents. A video posted by Facebook user Almoutanabi Alarabi shows the extent of the damages, including collapsed apartment buildings and destroyed vehicles abandoned on the road following the attack.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to Israeli forces.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
