Airwars assessment
One child was killed in an alleged Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon on Monday, September 23, 2024.
The child was named Zainab Khaled Ali Al Hassan Ramadan, and was reportedly from Syria.
Multiple sources reported that Zainab was originally from the village of Al-Qashla, on the outskirts of Manbij, Syria. The sources did not indicate the exact location of the strike.
Many Facebook accounts, including Twilight of Manbij, Manbij event and others, extended their condolences to the family of the victim, sharing her picture in front of a palm tree. She was a young girl pictured dressed in a light-green long dress, a white blazer, and white sneakers.
Only one source, a Facebook account Deaths in Manbij and its surroundings, directly attributed the strike to the Israeli military. However, because multiple other sources specifically mentioned “airstrikes” or “raids” as causing the death of Zainab, a capability which only the Israeli military possesses in this context, the strike status has been graded as “likely strike.”
The local time of the incident is unknown.
The victims were named as:
