Airwars assessment
On Monday, September 24, 2024, an alleged Israeli drone reportedly fired on a Honda four-wheel-drive vehicle at the Litani Bridge between Hazin and Hadath Baalbek in Lebanon, killing one person.
Several sources, including Al Mayadeen News and Alarabiya, reported on the incident and shared images of the destroyed vehicle. However, these images presented inconsistencies, showing two different vehicles in two different locations that did not match each other or the initial description.
Facebook pages for Capital of the Palestinian Diaspora and Royalarabsociety.com published photographs of a black four-wheel-drive vehicle on fire in a populated area, with houses visible in the background—an environment that does not align with the Litani Bridge location cited by all sources. In contrast, Free Lebanese Against Iran and Hezbollah, along with Lubnane Hor 2020’s Facebook pages, shared images of a burned-out vehicle by a roadside in a rural setting. Given the condition of the vehicles in both sets of images, it is difficult to confirm if either was a Honda, as originally reported.
At the time of these reports, the victim’s name had not been disclosed. While sources consistently mentioned a fatality, they did not identify the deceased.
Where sources discussed responsibility for the attack, all attributed the strike to Israeli forces. Airwars classified the civilian harm status as “weak,” due to the repeated information across sources.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
