Shortly before 8 AM on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024, an alleged Israeli airstrike reportedly resulted in minor injuries amongst the ambulance team of the Popular Rescue Regiment. The exact number of injured civilians and their identities were not specified by the sources.
The news outlet Saida Online reported that the alleged attack took place while the intervention team members were “carrying out their humanitarian duty in transporting the wounded from the Israeli raids that targeted villages and towns in southern Lebanon,” damaging the ambulance of the Regiment as well.
The pictures shared by several sources show the shattered glass of the ambulance’s front window in the aftermath of the incident. In one of such image, what appears to be a medic can be seen treating an injured man lying on a stretcher inside the ambulance.
Additionally, sources also reported the visit of the Lebanese MP Osama Saad, accompanied by the rapporteur of the Popular Rescue Regiment, to the regiment’s headquarters following the incident. Such posts also included pictures of the Popular Rescue Regiment members in a meeting with the visitors outside the headquarters. Saida TV wrote that they visited the regiment’s centre in Sidon to check on the safety of the team and reassure them.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
The incident occured at approximately 7:30 am local time.
