Airwars assessment
On September 25, 2024, a young man and a former student of Phoenicia University Hussein Abu Zaid was reportedly killed in an attack in southern Lebanon.
His alma mater, Phoenicia University in Lebanon, honoured his memory on Facebook, grieving his loss “with deep sorrow and sadness.” A graduate of their electrical and communications engineering program, Hussein was described as “a model of an outstanding, ambitious, and hard-working student.” The tribute included a photo of him wearing a black polo shirt, standing against the backdrop of a sunset-lit sky. The account noted that Hussein was killed in a “brutal attack”, though did not specify the responsible party.
Therefore, Airwars has graded the Strike Status as “contested”, and the civilian harm status as “weak” given the single source nature of the claim.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
