On 26th November 2024, multiple social media posts reported the killing of an elderly man Haji Ali Kadouh (Abu Hussein), and reportedly two other civilians, as well as the injury of a civilian, following an alleged Israeli airstrike on residential buildings in the Al-Sabbagh residential project opposite Al-Qadouh in the Al-Maqasid neighbourhood in the city of Nabatieh, Lebanon. The strike reportedly occurred shortly before 5 a.m., leveling to the ground a number of residential buildings.

On the day of the incident, the Facebook account “CivildefenseLB” posted that a wounded person had been recovered from the rubble following the alleged airstrike and that he was transferred to the Popular Rescue Hospital. It was not clear from the source whether this person was the late Ali Kadouh or another civilian.
In a further post to Facebook, Zainab Ahmad shared that the late Ali Kadouh had been considered the last livestock breeder in the city of Nabatieh and that Ali had been 90 years old at the time of his death. Zainab Ahmad accompanied his post with two images of Ali, one of which included Ali herding a flock of sheep.
In the days following the incident, many social media posts paid tribute to Ali Kadouh and noted that Ali refused to leave his land following the escalation of “Israeli aggression.”
A Facebook user Sameer Ahmad Naheeli Clamim wrote a touching tribute to the late Ali, mentioning his age as 91: “The city of Nabatieh is missing one of its greatest architects (Ali Qadouh Abu Hussein), 91 years old, who refused to leave his city and even held out. His soul flowed under the roof of his house.//May God have mercy on him and forgive him //.”
Hadiya Mshawrab expressed her condolences to the niece of the late Ali, writing, “ We offer our condolences to Sister Maryam Kadouh on the martyrdom of her steadfast uncle, Hajj Ali Kadouh “Abu Hussein”, the last livestock breeder in the city of Nabatieh who rose to sacrifice for the land of the south at the age of ninety… Congratulations, O lover of Hussein, this place and this ending… its conclusion is a blessing ??.”
Many X/Twitters accounts, including World Correspondents Network (@alalammoraselin) and @PalinfoAr, shared a video of the destruction caused on the property following the alleged bombing. The video demonstrated that one building was completely destroyed, and some – partially, with a lot of debris and pieces of concrete on the ground.
Facebook account Jabal Amel Metropolis Nabatieh posted a similar video from the place of the strike that showed two burnt cars in addition to the destroyed buildings.
