On 29 September 2024, one woman was killed and seven people, including two children, were reportedly injured in an alleged Israeli strike on a home in Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, Tyre District, southern Lebanon.
Zuleikha Abbas Najdi lost her life in the alleged Israeli airstrike, as reported by multiple sources, including the Lebanese news outlet, Jezzine Tahki. A photo of Zuleikha was shared by multiple sources, showing her as a middle-aged woman wearing a black hijab. Islamic Message Scouts – Deir Qanun Al-Nahr Regiment shared via Facebook images of Zuleikha’s body in the back of an ambulance covered in a blanket, and a Facebook page called Deirkanon alnaher also shared photos of her body being carried through the street in the funeral procession. In photographs, Zuleikha’s body is wrapped in a blanket that is printed with the AMAL Movement’s logo. AMAL is a political party which also hosts some militant activity and is allied with Hezbollah. As there is no explicit indication of militant activities, Zuleikha has been counted as a civilian.
Jezzine Tahki News and other social media sources reported that seven people were injured in the alleged Israeli airstrike, including two children who sustained minor injuries. Wael khalil on Facebook named those injured as Muhammad Najdi, Muhammad’s wife, Umm Qasim, Osama Naji, Abdullah Najdi and Laila Najdi. Wael also reported that Laila’s two children were those injured, but did not give their names.
The Islamic Message Scouts – Deir Qanun Al-Nahr Regiment reported that a team from the Al-Resala Health Ambulance Association attended the scene and pulled the wounded from the rubble; they evacuated Laila and her two children. The Scouts shared an image on Facebook of one of their marked cars departing the scene with two very young children on board. They also shared an image of a bloodied stretcher at the scene of the strike.
Lebanon 24 and other sources attributed the alleged airstrike to Israel and shared an image of a large cloud of smoke rising over the site of the attack, which was then shared broadly online.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli Military.
