On Monday, September 30, 2024, at least one person was reportedly killed and at least three others injured, following a suspected Israeli drone strike on a house in the town of al-Rafid, located in the Western Bekaa region of Lebanon.

Media Press Lebanon reported that an Israeli drone ‘targeted’ a house under construction belonging to Farhat al-Qadri, identified as a soldier in the Lebanese army. The strike resulted in the death of Hussam Alaa El-Din al-Dhaza and seriously injured Khaled Akasha, Farhat Farhat, and Farhat al-Qadri, all of whom were transferred to local hospitals.

Al Hadath (local news) reported casualties from an Israeli raid on a house in Al-Rafid in the Lebanese Bekaa but did not specify how many. Multiple sources confirmed one fatality and three serious injuries. Echo of Dahieah Telegram, Al-Mayadeen Lebanon (Hezbollah affiliated), @mosadalnamri, @AlKhabarME, and Tripoli Press Post all reported one killed and three critically injured. The National News Agency, as tweeted by @cgtnarabic, reported the injury of 4 fisherman in an Israeli shelling of a house in al-Rafid – it is unclear if this includes the man who later died as well. A Facebook post from Beirut Post provided a higher death toll of three killed in addition to the three injuries, while the highest death toll of six killed was reported by @AlkalimaOnline_.

Alafdal News specifically identified the ‘targeted’ house as belonging to Farhat Al-Qadri, a Lebanese army soldier, and multiple sources mentioned that the home was destroyed.

The al-Rafid People in Lebanon honored Hussam Alaa El-Din aAl-Dhaza’s memory on Facebook, offering prayer with “condolences accepted for men and women in the hall of Khalid bin al-Walid Mosque.” Hussan was identified as being the son of the late Mona Ezzat al-Dhaza and the tribute included an image of Hussam dressed in a black jacket. His funeral was scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 1:30 PM in the al-Rafid cemetery.

All sources that identified a belligerent attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
