On June 2 2025, three civilians – 28-year-old Ahmed Abdel Karim Hussein Shaheen, Hussein Nayef Abdullah Abu Matar, and 19-year-old Muhannad Abdel Fattah Muhammed Saad – were killed and around 35 others were wounded by alleged Israeli military gun fire near an aid center in Rafah during humanitarian aid distribution.
Sa7atPIBreaking on X/Twitter reported that three men were killed and 35 people were injured by gun wounds near the American company’s aid distribution center. A follow-up from ShehabAgency on X/Twitter confirmed the location west of Rafah city as well as the names of the three men who were killed and where in Gaza they were from – Ahmed Abdel Karim Hussein Shaheen from Gaza City, Hussein Nayef Abdullah Abu Matar from Rafah, and Muhannad Abdel Fattah Muhammed Saad from Jabalia.
News Arab quoted sources at Nasser Hospital who verified the casualty reporting that three people had been killed and 35 others wounded, with some victims being treated at the Red Cross field hospital west of Rafah while the dead and some critically wounded were taken to Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis. The Arab Organization for Human Rights in Britain specified that the victims had been killed and injured while they were heading to receive humanitarian aid, providing the casualty toll of three killed and “dozens of others” injured, some seriously. An adjoined photo seems to depict bodies being carted away within a large crowd with a white cloth covering parts of their bodies.
A video posted on Facebook by journalist Youssef Abu Watfa reportedly shows the moment gunfire began – a mass of people can be seen running for cover toward the camera, away from the gunshots.
Many took to social media to express their grief over the loss of the three men. Om Ahmed Eid, uncle of Muhannad Saad, shared a photo of the young man. In the photo, Saad is standing with his hands in the pockets of his black trousers, a watch on his wrist, and he is wearing a blue T-shirt. He appears to have curly brown hair, shaved at the sides, and is standing on a grassy field. Another photo shared shows the same curly haired young man, who has light eyes, and is wearing a white-collared polo. The photo was shared by Jabalia City on Facebook, where Saad was from.
According to another post shared, he was a “young man in his twenties, [who] dreamed of finishing university and taking care of his mother and sisters after the war took his father. He tried, endured, and kept fighting through hunger and fear. Yesterday, he went out in the middle of the night to get aid from Rafah… but he never came back. [Muhannad] was killed, leaving his mother and sisters behind. This isn’t just one story- it’s the story of an entire generation in Gaza.” Graphic photos show Saad post-mortem, wrapped in white cloth. His eyes are closed, mouth agape and his neck is covered in blood.
A photo of Ahmed Abdel Karim Hussein Shaheen from was also shared by Musab Abu Muhammad on Facebook, showing a young man with short, dark hair, with a mustache and beard. In the photo he is wearing a black long-sleeve shirt. A graphic post-mortem photo shows him wrapped in white cloth, with his eyes closed.
