Airwars Assessment
Two civilians were injured from an explosion inside a residential apartment belonging to the Al-Najjar family in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip on March 3, 2026. The blast was caused by residents handling explosive materials allegedly left behind by the Israeli military.
The explosion reportedly took place near the Al-Nass intersection, in the Al-Najjar building opposite Al-Hayat Park, near Al-Farouq Mosque, according to Reem Zaher. A post from Bassam Jamil specified that the explosion had occurred an hour earlier, putting the time around 9:43pm local time. Two people were reportedly injured and transported from the scene, with activist Ghadi Singer quoting the civil defense crews as having taken a “moderately injured person” to the Kuwaiti Field Hospital.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the explosion to a remnant left by the Israeli military.
