During the morning on Wednesday, 5 February 2025, 18-year-old Oday Adel Mohammad al-Dabari died as a result of a shooting allegedly by the Israeli military. The incident took place in Al-Shawka town, east of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.
@Sa7atPlBreaking on Twitter/X, shared, “The young man, [Oday] Adel al-Dabari, was martyred by the bullets of the Israeli … army east of Khan Younis city, south of the Gaza Strip.” Similar information was shared by other news agencies and social media users across Facebook and Twitter/X, who clarified that the shooting occurred in Rafah.
Sahdi Subhi Al Sofi shared a message of condolence for Oday Adel al-Dabari: “To God we belong and to Him we shall return, Despite the existence of the truce / the martyrdom of the young man / [Oday] Adel al-Dabari, May God have mercy on you and forgive you, [Oday], And give patience to your, family and compensate them with good..God is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.” Attached to this message was a photo of the victim, showing him as a young man with short hair and a medium build.
Where possible, the names of the victims have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, the name of Oday was matched to the eighth “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on March 24, 2025.
Where sources identified belligerents, all sources attributed the shooting to the Israeli Military.
