On the morning of the 2nd of November 2023, it was reported that a journalist, 40-year-old Mohammed al-Bayari (Abu Musab), was killed at his home as a result of an alleged Israeli strike on Gaza City.
Multiple sources reported on Mohammed al-Bayari’s work as a journalist. According to @NewpressPs, Mohammed Al-Bayari worked as an Al-Aqsa TV cameraman.
On Facebook, @Mahmoud Shorrab reported at 9 a.m. that Mohammed al-Bayari was killed a short while ago, suggesting the incident took place in the morning. He explained that Mohammed was his sister’s husband. Accompanying the post are two images showing a view from the doorway of a large bedroom, in what appears to be a residential block of apartments. In the room, a double bed is up against the external wall, under a large square window which has been completely broken in. Outside the window, in the foreground, a large building has been reduced to rubble with other apartment complexes surrounding it. There is rubble and debris covering the bed and the floor which suggests impact from an incident outside of the room had led to the window being blown in. Outside, it is sunny and bright. It is likely the image was taken in the morning or the middle of the day.
Multiple sources shared prayers for the man. Sources corroborated that the incident was a result of a bombing in Gaza City, with Watan news agency specifying “shelling of Gaza City”. Other sources, however, indicated that the journalist was killed in an airstrike.
Names of the victims have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, Mohammed’s name was matched to the third “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on April 1, 2024.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
