Airwars Assessment
On the afternoon of November 4, 2023, someone was injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike near the European Hospital in the Al-Fokhari area in Khan Younis, Gaza Strip. A member of Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades, 28-year-old Bilal Jamil al-Tabash, was killed.
On the day of the alleged Israeli strike, @Sa7atPlBreaking and @ShehabAgency shared photos from “the farewell of the martyr Bilal al-Tabash, who was killed by [Israeli] bombing near the European Hospital in the Al-Fokhari area in Khan Yunis this afternoon.” The pictures showed Bilal’s body shrouded in a white sheet with his face exposed. According to various sources, including Nabd News and Facebook users Ajel Falstin al’an and Eid al-Sayyed al-Mahdi, “this young man, Bilal al-Tabash, was killed and another was injured” in the alleged airstrike by Israeli forces. No further information has been given regarding the wounded.
Martyr photos of Belal began circulating online on March 11, 2026. As such, Airwars updated this assessment, changing Belal’s status from civilian to militant.
Additionally, the incident’s ‘civilian harm status’ was changed from ‘fair’ to ‘weak’. This change comes as three sources reported that an individual was injured (Eid Al sayyed Al Mahdi, Nabd, and Mariam Mohamed), but all three reported the same sentence verbatim (“The young man Bilal al-Tabash was martyred and another was injured”), potentially indicating circular reporting. This will be updated should additional information become available.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to Israeli forces.
