On Friday, October 10, 2025, a young girl died from injuries sustained the day before (October 9th) during an alleged Israeli airstrike or gunfire in the Asdaa area, northwest of Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Press Agency (Safa News Agency) reported at 09:08 a.m. that the young girl Raseel Emad Kwara had succumbed to her injuries caused by an Israeli strike.
Abu Alaa Kwara turned to Facebook to express her grief over the death of her niece. Like several other private sources, she noted that Raseel’s father Emad had been killed approximately one year earlier. Wafaa Salman Kaware also expressed her condolences to other members of the family, stating: “A little bird in paradise, God willing, my dear.” Ziyoud Thaer Ashour, who appears to be a friend of the family, shared the same information on Facebook, stating: “We still miss you, Abu al-Amir, and today you welcome the joy of your heart, Raseel.”
All of the posts included photographs of Raseel. One image, which was most frequently shared, shows a portrait of the little girl with light-brown hair partially pulled back and secured with a hair clip, and light-coloured eyes. She is wearing a black top, a light blue blazer, and a gold necklace. Another photograph depicts her smiling with her head slightly tilted, standing in front of what appears to be a patterned wall or gate. In this image, she is wearing her hair tied back and a blue sleeveless top with a purple butterfly motif. A further image shows her smiling with her hair worn down, dressed in an elegant red coat with a black belt and a matching beanie. A white flower pin appears to be attached to her collar.
In addition to numerous private social media users, the incident was reported by several local media outlets, including Safa News Agency, Al Ittihad News, Palestine Today TV, Sawa News Agency, WAFA News Agency and Zoom Media Network.
All available sources stated that the incident occurred in the Asdaa Area, northwest of Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip. A family member, Abu Alaa Kwara, further specified in her Facebook post that the incident took place in the Bir 19 area.
While various sources referred to the incident as a fire or shooting, some further described it as involving a gunshot or a stray bullet. One single source additionally indicated that the incident resulted from an airstrike.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to the Israeli military.
