Airwars Assessment

Last Updated: April 8, 2025

On November 6, 2023, six civilian members of the Labad family, including five women, were killed and dozens of others, including a child, were reportedly injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike on the al-Hamayda family home located in the vicinity of Al-Dakhni in the densely populated al-Shaboura area of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.

76-year-old Khadija Hussein Labad was killed along with her daughters, 48-year-old Nadia Muhammad Labad and 45-year-old Najwa Muhammad Labad, her son, 45-year-old Ahmed Muhammad Labad, and Ahmed’s wife, 37-year-old Nisreen Imad Labad. A 44-year-old woman named Maha Fouad Labad was also killed. According to various sources, the victims had been displaced earlier in the war and were sheltering at the al-Hamayda home at the time of the attack.

On the night of November 6, @ShehabAgency reported that “six displaced people were martyred in the targeting of a house for the al-Hamayda family in the al-Shaboura area in central Rafah, and neighboring houses were damaged.” Journalist Adli Abu Taha reported “six martyrs so far…and the search for missing people under the rubble continues” and shared a photo showing at least three bodies wrapped in blankets inside a morgue.

Palestine TV, Alhaya.ps, and others reported that “injured people were transferred after [Israeli] aircraft targeted the al-Hamaida family home” and shared a video of an injured man and child in an ambulance along with a crowd of people using flashlights to search through debris. Sawa News Agency reported about “dozens of injuries” after the attack.

Following the alleged Israeli strike, surviving loved ones mourned the victims on social media.

Iman Labad mourned “my mother Khadija Hussein Labad, my brother Ahmed Mohammed Labad @ahma, his wife Nasreen Imad Al-Madhoun Nasreen Al-Madhoun, my brother’s wife Maha Fouad Al-Madhoun Maha Madhon, my sister Najwa Mohammed Labad Najwa Labad, [and] my sister Nadia Mohammed Labad Nada Mohammad.” Facebook user Abu Ibraheem Lubbad mourned the victims – his aunt, cousins, and cousin’s wife – as well.

Naeem Almadhoun shared a photo of mourners kneeling beside shrouded bodies and grieving the loss of “my cousin ((Maha Fouad, a martyr))” and prayed for “patience for your sons and daughters, your family and loved ones and patience for you, my uncle. The news of your martyrdom was a shock, by God.” Ahmed Elmadhoun shared the same photo and mourned “the martyrdom of my niece Maha Fouad Labd “Al-Madhon” Maha Madhon.” Facebook user Mutaz.muneer honored “my aunt Maha,” describing her as “the mother of a kind heart.”

Where possible, the names of the victims have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released six lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 15, 2024. Airwars matches individuals to the first list where their names appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the second “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on January 7th, 2024.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
