Airwars Assessment
On November 7, 2023, four individuals were killed and at least seven others, mostly children, were wounded in an airstrike on the Al-Daq family home in Al-Fakhoura, west of Jabalia in North Gaza. Allegedly deployed by the Israeli military, the strike impacted two families – the Al-Daqs, as well as the Dhabouses, who are the subject of a separate assessment – in the area. According to the images from the local sources, at least six children and one man were injured.
The story of the attack first surfaced just after 15:15 p.m. on the day, and was picked up by Shehab Agency, Yemen News, and Palestine Graph, among other news agencies. Later reports by Alarabiya Palestine and Alwakeel News indicated a total of five fatalities had been identified between both the Al-Daq and Dhabous families. Excluding the one deceased member of the Dhabous family previously recorded, this suggests that four members of the Al-Daq family were killed in the airstrike.
In addition, most sources reported that a number of individuals had been wounded in the attack, most of them being children. While no source has specified how many people were injured, the images shared by local sources showed at least six injured children receiving medical care, among them two toddlers, and an injured man carried by people, whose face was completely blackened from the dust.
Pictures of the aftermath showed children being lifted out of collapsed buildings by first responders. In a series of images, a toddler in pink pyjamas, stained grey with dust, her face barely recognisable under the grime, was depicted being carried through the hallway of a hospital by a doctor, before being placed on a hospital bed next to another infant receiving treatment.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to Israeli forces.
