On November 13, 2023, medical personnel and previously wounded individuals being treated at the hospital of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City were reportedly struck by bullets and injured, following alleged sniper fire by Israeli forces.
Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Ashraf al-Qudra stated that both medical staff and patients within the facility had sustained injuries from sniper fire attributed to Israeli forces. The incident reportedly occurred inside the hospital compounds, a site that had already been overwhelmed with injured civilians amid the ongoing hostilities. No specific casualty figures were initially confirmed by the Ministry, but multiple sources used the plural form (“some”) in Arabic and English, indicating that at least two medical staff and two patients were injured in the attack, for a total minimum of four.
All sources directly cited the same official statement from Dr. Al-Qudra, with slightly varying translations, but the core claim remained consistent across over a dozen accounts. The nature of the injuries and their location within the hospital further amplified concerns of harm to protected medical personnel.
Due to the repetitive nature of the reporting, which was based on the statement of the Health Ministry spokesman, Airwars has graded the strike status of the incident as “single source claim” and the civilian harm status as “weak.”
