On Tuesday, 10 December 2024, at least 22 identified civilians and up to more than 30 civilians, including at least nine children, at least six women, and elderly civilians, were killed in an alleged Israeli airstrike on a house belonging to the Abu Saada family, which was sheltering the al-Tarabish family, near Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip.

Facebook page Dima’s Imagination posted on December 10, 2024, that a house “belonging to the Abu Al-Tarabish family opposite Kamal Adwan Hospital” had been hit by Israeli forces, resulting in what they described as a “massacre”, with more than 30 civilians killed and buried under the wreckage. Ihab Masry stated that more than 20 had been killed, noting that the house belonging to the Abu Saada family, which had been sheltering “displaced persons from the Abu Al-Tarabish family” was destroyed.

Another social media page stated that “Northern Gaza is being wiped out” and that “the death toll rises to 20 Palestinians” from the strike on the Abu al-Tarabish family home in the Beit Lahia project, according to sources from the family that spoke to Anadolu Agency.

Mustafa Al-Aboudi posted that 21 family members had been killed. Meanwhile, Hin Al-Daawi reported that 22 civilians had been killed in the strike, which they stated occurred “early…morning.” However, other sources, including Facebook page Dima’s Imagination and Beit Lahia Project Sons Association, claimed that the strike happened on December 10, 2024. In particular, the Beit Lahia Project Sons Association provided the list of the names of the civilians who have been killed in the strike, noting that they were killed “as a result of the targeting on Tuesday 12/10/2024, of their displacement site in the building surrounding Kamal Adwan Hospital_eastern neighborhoods of Beit Lahia Project north of Gaza.”

The names of the civilians killed from the al-Tarabish family and Balousha family, as shared by sources online, including Safa News and surviving family members on social media, were as follows:

From the al-Tarabish family

68-year-old Hanafi Ahmed Abu al-Tarabeesh “Abu Sameh” was killed alongside his wife Hania Youssef Abu al-Tarabeesh (Meema) (Umm Sameh) aged 68, their son, Khaled Hanafi Abu al-Tarabeesh “Abu Kenan” aged 32 and their 16-year-old grandson Amir Walid Hanafi Abu al-Tarabeesh.

Khaled’s oldest son, four-year-old Kenan Khaled Abu al-Tarabeesh, and daughters, three-year–old Lama Khaled Abu al-Tarabeesh, and five-year-old Lana Khaled Abu al-Tarabeesh were also killed.

An image of Hanafi posted by his nephew Hamza Abu al-Tarabish showed an elderly man clean-shaven and wearing a red shirt. Other members of the family posted by Hanza include a boy no older than his late teens, little children, including three little girls, two smiling cheerfully, and an infant child. Photos posted by the Beit Lahia Project Sons Association showed two more children, young boys, along with an elderly couple and several young men.

The image of Hanafi’s grandson Amir shared on the website Genocide in Gaza and on social media showed him as a teenager with a gentle smile, wearing a black jacket and a paper hat with Arabic inscriptions, and holding a certificate in his hands.

Hanafi’s brother 65-year-old Mahmoud Ahmed Abu al-Tarabeesh “Abu Amer” was killed along with his 64-year-old wife Lulu Atta Rabie Abu al-Tarabeesh (al-Halaq) “Umm Amer”. In the image shared on the website Genocide in Gaza and on social media, Mahmoud Abu al-Tarabesh is seen as a middle-aged man with a bald head, a black moustache, wearing a white shirt and a black striped suit. His wife Lulu is seen as a middle-aged woman with thin eyebrows and large brown eyes, wearing a red and white embroidered dress and a white hijab, standing in festive surroundings.

Mahmoud’s son 38-year-old Mohammed Mahmoud Ahmed Abu al-Tarabeesh (Abu Abdullah) was killed alongside his 30-year-old wife, Rana Mohammed Abu al-Tarabeesh (Ashour) “Umm Abdullah”, their sons, 10-year-old Abdullah Mohammed Mahmoud Abu al-Tarabeesh and eight-year-old Karam Mohammed Mahmoud Abu al-Tarabeesh, and their five-year-old daughter Malak Mohammed Mahmoud Abu al-Tarabeesh.

In his image shared on the website Genocide in Gaza and on social media, Mohammed is seen in festive surroundings as a young man with a shaven head and a short beard, large brown eyes, wearing a white shirt, a suit, and a red tie. He is holding a baby in his hands.

Among the victims was nephew of Mahmoud and Hanafi 34-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed Ahmed Abu al-Tarabeesh “Abu Muhammad”.  In his image shared on the website Genocide in Gaza, Ibrahim is seen as a young man with deep-set brown eyes and a gentle smile, wearing a grey striped T-shirt. Facebook user Aya Sayed shared another image of Ibrahim, who is seen smiling widely, wearing a dark-green shirt and black trousers.

Wife of Hamed Abu al-Tarabeesh, Afif al-Luqa Abu al-Tarabeesh “Umm Mohammed”, aged 63, was killed alongside her son Baraa Hamed Ahmed Abu al-Tarabeesh, aged 28. In his image shared on the website Genocide in Gaza and on social media, Baraa is seen as a young man with dark hair, thick dark eyebrows, and a trimmed beard, wearing a white T-shirt and a dark-green checkered suit.

Facebook user Aya Sayed shared an image of Afif, whom she called “beloved aunt”. In the image, Afif is seen sitting on the coach in a black dress and a patterned headscarf, laughing.

Baraa was killed along with his wife, 22-year-old Ayat Wissam Abdel Rahman, their daughters Mira Baraa Abu al-Tarabeesh, aged five and two-year-old Rima Baraa Abu al-Tarabeesh.

The ages of some victims have been found by cross-checking names against lists of fatalities shared online by Genocide in Gaza, which has a list of “martyrs” of Israeli forces.

From the Balousha family

Mohammad Matar mourned the two civilians killed from the Balousha family, his “beloved aunt” Hajjah Souad Abdul Raouf Matar (Umm Osama), and her “dear husband” Hajj Ismail Balousha (Abu Osama), describing them as being “like the Quran on earth”, adding that they would be missed but their “good influence will remain,” and expressed condolences to the Balousha family for the death of the “best of their family.” A photo of them shows an elderly couple smiling, with Ismail, a bearded, corpulent elderly man in a white shirt, and Souad, an elderly woman in a black dress and in a patterned hijab.

Surviving members of the al-Tarabish family, including Hamza Abu al-Tarabish, Abu al-Amir al-Tarabish, Nael Abu al-Tarabish, and pages such as the Beit Lahia Project Sons Association, posted condolences, with the Association calling the family a “virtuous family of good memory and biography.” Along with other sources, including Sky Palestine, they posted images of the deceased.

Ahmed Al-Afandy posted condolences to the surviving members of the al-Tarabish family, including his uncle Abu Muhammad and his “beloved brothers Muhammad and Ahmed Ismail Tarabesh, Mohammed Tarabish, and Ahmed Tarabesh.” Aya Sayed mourned Afif, Baraa and Ayat, describing Ayat as kind, and the Al-Tarabish family as “a group of our best relatives and loved ones.”

Images posted by Ihab Masry and Mustafa Al-Aboudi on Facebook showed the destruction and rubble in the aftermath of the strike on the home – the structure can be seen flattened completely, with rescue workers searching among the rubble.

Where possible, the names of the victims have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, most names are matched to the eleventh “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on August 4, 2025.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the incident to Israeli forces.
