On November 12th, 2024, two men were reportedly killed and 25 others were injured as a result of an alleged Israeli drone strike at the end of Al-Jalaa Street and Third Street, in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood of Gaza City, the Gaza Strip.
Local sources on social media reported on the incident and Abu Sameh Abu Musheikh’s post, Hamda Sarour’s post and News Source’s post identified the two men killed as 52-year-old Khalil Abu al-Qura (Abu Muhammad) and Ibrahim Nofal. Sources, including Mosab Salama’s post and Abu Zaher’s post, included images of Khalil Abu al-Qura, and Baha Abu al-Qura al-lhtiyati’s post included a video.
Many took to social media to mourn the loss of Khalil Abu al-Qura. Samer Abu al-Qura post said: “May you rise to heaven, my beloved uncle martyr…. Khalil was killed while trying to rescue his wounded neighbors after an Israeli drone strike targeted civilians at his doorstep in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.” Photos were also shared of Khalil’s dead body in a body bag being carried by a group of men. Baha Abu al-Qura al-Ihtiyati, Jihad Fatahi, Anas al-Dura and Ghassan EL-Durra also mourned the death of their uncle.
Khalil’s niece, Hind Abdullah, also highly praised her deceased uncle in a testimony on Facebook: “My uncle has passed away, the good man honest man to deal with. The owner of the beautiful soul, the beloved of all and the servant man. The one who was in his life left and died smiling. The one who treated others well has left, generous, patient, on God’s will.”
Khalil’s son Muhammad also posted a touching testimony on Facebook, saying, “Farewell to the one who made me proud during your life and made me even prouder with your martyrdom. I miss you, Dad.”
The Palestinian political party Fatah also mourned the death of Khalil Abu al-Qura.
In a tribute, Osama Abu Foul said, “My friend and colleague in military intelligence Khalil Abu Al-Qara is a martyr because he and a group of citizens were targeted with a bomb” and included an image of Khalil where he is seen as a middle-aged man with a bald head and a grey beard, wearing a blue checkered shirt. Palestinian military intelligence is not officially affiliated with Hamas’ military wing or any other militant group and has policing functions. Hence, Khalil Abu al-Qura is considered a civilian by Airwars until more information comes to light.
Where possible, the names of the victims have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, Khalil’s name was matched to the eighth “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on March 24, 2025.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli forces.
