Before 10:23 a.m. on 14 October 2025, alleged Israeli shelling in the Al-Shujaiya neighbourhood, east of Gaza City, reportedly killed at least five individuals and injured a number of others.
Twitter/X account @PalinfoAr reported that five people had been killed by Israeli shelling in Al-Shujaiya at 10:23 a.m., marking the information as “urgent.” The information was also reported by multiple local sources, as well as newspapers including Sky News Arabia and Location name local Palestine. All the sources referred to the Baptist Hospital as a source of information. Ramallah News on Facebook also mentioned that there were injuries without specifying how many.
According to a local source, Al-Fath Newspaper, the victims were killed by a drone strike while inspecting their homes in the Al-Shujaiya area. The same information was corroborated by Palestinian Information Center.
In the aftermath of the incident, individuals on social media, including Abu Karam Saad, who post on Facebook, warned residents to avoid the Al-Shujaiya neighbourhood and “anywhere the army is present,” citing ongoing danger. Posts encouraged civilians to “stay safe, may God protect everyone”.
While multiple news outlets reported on the incident, none identified the victims or provided further details regarding their identities or any further information.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to the Israeli military. The IDF released a statement on its Telegram Channel posted on the same day that the Israeli military had fired to remove a threat posed by people who approached its forces in northern Gaza. It said that the soldiers fired against “suspects” who were “crossing the yellow line” – the line to which Israel’s military pulled back under the ceasefire deal that took effect on Friday – and were approaching soldiers in breach of the agreement. However, as the statement does not include any specific information about location or time, this incident has been graded as a “likely strike” pending more specific details.
