Airwars Assessment
On October 14, 2025, an alleged Israeli drone strike or drone fire reportedly killed a young boy and injured others in the Ma’an area, east of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Initial reports emerged from multiple sources, including @PalinfoAr and al-Araby al-Jadeed, stating that injuries had resulted from Israeli drone fire in the area. Other updates by @PalinfoAr, @TvAlmasirah, and @livequds noted that one Palestinian was killed, citing medical sources at Nasser Medical Complex. The deceased was later identified as 14-year-old Ahmed Osama Qwaider, whose body was recovered from the scene.
Ahmed’s death was noted in a post by a local community page dedicated to residents of Ma’an and eastern Khan Younis, which reported that his body had been recovered that day. In images shared online, Ahmed was a boy of medium build, with short, curly dark hair. He wore a grey t-shirt with blue jeans and sandals.
A series of media outlets and social media pages included Medhat Mohamed Badini, Zoom News, al-Masry al-Youm, and al-Araby al-Jadeed corroborated the incident, describing injuries. The specific number of wounded was not detailed in any reports.
While some sources referred to the attack as a drone strike, others referred to drone “fire” possibly indicating a shooting from a quadcopter drone.
Ahmed’s age was found by cross-checking his name against lists of fatalities shared online by Genocide in Gaza, which has a list of “martyrs” of Israeli forces and specifically referred to this attack as occurring “without prior warning”. As Genocide in Gaza mentioned that Ahmed was killed with “several other martyrs” a maximum toll of three has been recorded.
All sources that identified a belligerent attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
