During the morning of Sunday, March 15, 2026, at least four people, including a pregnant woman and two children, were killed and several others were injured following an alleged Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment in Al-Sawarha area, west of the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in the central Gaza Strip.
On X/Twitter, @Mhamed Khouya shared that “four Palestinians were killed and wounded when Israeli warplanes bombed a group of civilians in the Al-Sawarha area, west of the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip”. Muhammad Ali al-Sanusi and The Free November Badisians/Badisian Revolution specified that there were “several other wounded”.
WAFA News Agency mentioned that the bombing took place on a “residential apartment” which it later identified as belonging to the Ayash family. Most sources only reported on a “bombing” carried by “Israeli warplanes” but the Palestinian Refugee Portal highlighted that the apartment was hit by a “missile.” Images shared by WAFA News Agency show the aftermath of the attack as residents inspect the crumbling apartment filled with debris and dust.
Central News and Abu al-Bara’ indicated that the attack happened in the morning.
Twitter/X user @islambader_1988 identified the victims as Kamel Abdel Nasser Ayash, also known as Abu Ahmed, 36, his wife, Halima Mohamed Ayash, 32, and their 10-year-old son, Ahmed Kamel Ayash. According to Hamla Kaddour, Halima was pregnant with twins at the time of the incident. The last victim was identified as 15-year-old teenager Ibrahim Muhammad al-Hasanat.
The age of the victims was cross-checked with the help of Shireen Monitor, an organisation which has a list of “Martyrs of Palestine” from 2023 onward, and includes thousands of names. While the ages of Kamel and Halima Ayash match the information provided by @islambader_1988, Ahmed and Ibrahim are listed as eight and 14 years old, respectively, on Shireen Monitor.
Relatives of the victims took to social media to express their grief and share pictures in memory of their loved ones. Rania Ayash recalled that during her last phone call with her sister Halima, her sister was “exhausted from carrying twins and fasting,” but wished she had held on longer to the call. From Rania’s post, it appears that their brother, Shukri, had also been killed in a previous incident, which added all the more to the grief of their mother. Another sister of Halima, Fatma Mohamed, also shared her sorrow on Facebook.
Kamel’s cousin, Ahmed Ayash, shared a selfie where Kamel is seen smiling alongside him. In another picture, Kamel is wearing a blue shirt while grabbing food and smiling at the camera. In images shared online, Kamel shines through as a beaming person, often wearing short hair and a trimmed beard. As for his son Ahmed, he is shown wearing a beige hoodie while posing in front of trees with a wide smile on his face.
Family members of Ibrahim Muhammad, including his uncle, Abdulrahman Al-Afash, shared pictures of the boy. In one of them, he can be seen sitting on the grass, wearing a green sweater. In another picture, shared by a family cousin, Amr Abu Sakhr, Ibrahim appears taller while standing next to a wall.
In the images of a funeral procession posted by Awda Satellite Channel and @palestineultra, the bodies of the victims are lined up on the floor and wrapped in shrouds while some faces remain visible. People gathered before the victims to perform the ritual funeral prayer. In a separate picture, @Mhamed Khouya shared a picture of Kamel’s body, covered in a blanket.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to Israeli forces.
