In the early hours of March 18th 2025 it was reported that five people were killed and ten others were injured as a result of the alleged Israeli bombing of the al-Rafei School in Jabalia al-Balad, north of the Gaza Strip.
Al-Arabiya correspondent reported the incident at Twitter/X at 4:38 a.m., writing about five deaths and ten injuries. Other sources on social media, including @Sa7atPlBreaking, @F24online, and @saloom_official, reposted this information without changes.
On Facebook, Radio Alam reported that “dozens of Palestinians were killed in Israeli shelling near al-Tabi’in School and the nearby al-Rafei School, as well as in raids on the al-Zeitoun neighbourhood and the bombing of a house in Deir al-Balah city. The post included a photograph with structures on fire, with three men standing amid rubble near the blaze, though it remains unclear which of the reported incidents the image depicts. In a separate post by Raina Al Khodary, the incident was described as a “violent attack”. However, these figures are not included in the death toll for the current incident because they cover the wider area, including al-Tabi’in School and the Al-Zeitoun neighbourhood; these incidents have been captured separately by Airwars.
Given the repetitive nature of reporting and the lack of information on civilian harm, Airwars graded the strike status of the incident as “single source claim”, and the civilian harm status as “weak.”
