29-year-old freelance photojournalist Abdullah Mustafa Ahmed al-Najar was killed by an alleged Israeli airstrike on Jabalia Al-Balad during the afternoon on 18 May 2024.
Facebook user “Activist Mohamed Farah” mourned Abdullah’s death, writing that Abdullah was his cousin, who died “as a result of a targeted bombing in Jabalia, north of Gaza.” Maysaa Sultan, another cousin, prayed both that “God have mercy” on Abdullah, and “God give […] patience” to his mother.
While the vast majority of sources attributed Abdullah’s death to an Israeli airstrike, Lebanon Now reported shelling as responsible. Gigaza reported that the strike occurred “without prior warning.”
Abdullah’s name was matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health’s List of Fatalities in Gaza, first appearing in the list’s eighth publication, released 24 March 2025.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to the Israeli military.
