On the morning of the 20th of February 2026, it was reported that a Palestinian man, Osama Ahmed Abdel Aziz al-Najjar (46 years old), was killed by an alleged Israeli drone strike in the Qizan Al-Najjar area, south of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Multiple sources, including @Hamla Kaddour and WAFA news agency, reported that Osama was killed while being outdoors and collecting firewood. Roya Palestine reported a video in which one mourner explained how when he had left to collect firewood at 7 a.m. and did not return, his sons and brothers went searching for him. Osama had been found missing the lower half of his body. It was was reported that he was killed in a drone strike.
@Hamla Kaddour reported that “He joins his brothers Hussam, Hamza, and Bilal, who were killed during the war.” The source added that his other brother, Abdel Rahman, was still missing. The post included a collage of five men – it is likely these were Osama and his brothers. His photo is on the top left corner, dressed smartly in a suit jacket and shirt, looking into the camera. WAFA news agency added that Osama had his own family, including a child and several married daughters.
Voice of Palestine Radio shared images of the funeral processions, where a large group of men carried Osama’s body through the streets.@safaps also posted images of men surrounding Osama’s body, shrouded in a red and tan keffiyeh, partially covered by a body bag. Facebook user “Omar Omar,” also sharing photographs of the funeral and included a prayer for Osama stating that “God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.”
Facebook source “Leadership, leadership” wrote a post about Osama’s family, the Al-Najjar family, who were mourning their son’s death. Accompanying the post was a picture of Osama, which has been shared by other sources, including @Lbro Alnajjaar. In the picture, Osama is sitting outside wearing a blue coat with a grey fur collar. He wears a brown and black traditional scarf around his head.
@Abood Alshafaei reported a video with Osama al-Najjar’s mother showing her anguish with an exclamation, “Oh God, compensate me with something better.”
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
