Airwars Assessment
(Previous Incident Code: ISIR260329i )
At approximately 9:10 p.m. on, March 29, 2026, four civilians were reportedly buried under the rubble after an alleged Israeli and/or US airstrike on an industrial warehouse in Kianshahr, a residential suburb in south Tehran. All four of those under the rubble were working as security guards at the time of the strike.
Tasmin News Agency (via Telegram), announced an “American-[Israeli] attack on waste storage in Kianshahr, Tehran”. Four warehouse guards were unaccounted for, thought to be trapped under the rubble, at the time of reporting. Search and rescue efforts were underway to recover the injured or recover the bodies of those who were killed. As sources noted that rescue operations continued in an effort to find those missing security guards, and their fate – whether they were killed or injured – being unknown, a range of zero to four injuries and zero to four deaths has been recorded in this incident to account for the fact that it was unknown whether they were injured or killed. This will be updated should additional information become available.
Photos and video footage was posted from a number of social media accounts, including @avatoday, @Vahid / Unit and @fshnewsoutlet, reporting that “This morning, there were numerous reports of massive explosions in the Kianshahr neighborhood of Tehran. Local residents reported hearing loud explosions, buildings shaking, flames, and thick smoke in the area.” Video footage of the incident shows multiple explosions, and witnesses can be heard saying, “Wow, what are they doing?” Along with this, damage to nearby homes and warehouses was also reported.
The official account for Jam Jam newspaper, @jamejamCPI, posted at 5:13 a.m. the morning after the incident, writing “places that were attacked by the American-[Israeli] enemy in Tehran in the past few hours: Qasr-e-Firouzeh residential complex, Area 21, behind Sani Khani Hospital, Sorkheh Park, Mehrabad Airport fence, damage to the National Bank in Fedayan-e-Islam, behind the Kianshahr Fire Station, Carton Factory, Area 15, end of Babaei Shargh Highway.”
New information was released by Iran International, a leading Iranian news outlet, via Instagram. The video is captioned “The status of the Kianshahr Basij base after the Sunday attacks”, suggesting that the warehouse may have been owned by the Basij, a volunteer paramilitary militia in Iran which constitutes one of the five branches of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The video shows a crowd of men gathered around the damaged facility. The scene is loud and chaotic. Another account, @Osint613, Open Source Intel, posted on X/Twitter at 7:13 a.m. on March 30, reporting that “IRGC storage facilities in the Kian Shahr area, southeast of Tehran, were completely decimated by the U.S. and Israel” and included a link to some video footage from Al Arabiya news. The video footage shows a fire blazing, with only the remnants of what appears to be some kind of industrial structure visible. Fire crews can be seen with a hose working to put out the fire.
While the industrial warehouse was allegedly associated with either the IRGC or Basij as a storage facility, there is no evidence that the security guards were involved in militant activity. Therefore, they have been recorded as civilians. This will be updated should additional information become available.
Explosions were first reported to have occurred between 9:10 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on March 29. The social media account ‘Same request’, @hemn_khastan, shared at 4:19 a.m. early the next morning, that “videos published on the Vahid Online channel indicate a series of heavy explosions in Tehran and its suburbs; these attacks began at 21:10 in the Mehrabad area and continued at around 23:15 in areas such as Khorasan Square, Kianshahr, Shahrek Shahed, and the Tehran/Qom highway with great intensity and the activation of air defenses.” The social media accounts @IranNewsAgency0 and @IranIntl posted that “severe explosions in southeast Tehran with widespread tremors felt/Messages received from Kianshahr and Shahrek Shahed indicate the sound and severe tremors of the explosion.”
Where sources identified the belligerent, they identified the Israeli and/or US military.
