Initially this incident was reported on by several local sources as alleged Coalition airstrikes in the area behind Barazi pharmacy, near Al Nour mosque in the city of Raqqa. Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently blamed “international coalition raids and Kurdish militia artillery”, and put the death toll at more than 33, with dozens more wounded.
Local sources reported that an unspecified number of civilians were injured by missiles or artillery shells at the Al Ibbo carwash. Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently reported that the SDF was shelling the area, while other sources didn’t identify the culprit. However, only the US was using artillery at this time.
According to the Smart News Network, “activists said that International Coalition bombed the Mansour neighbourhood in the city of Raqqa, killing a civilian”. Other sources reported Coalition airstrikes on the Nadeer bakery on Al-Mansour Street and Abaret Al-Sadou, but made no mention of civilian casualties. Ragga Truth named one civilian male, Saleh Hameed Al-Harith, as killed in an alleged Coalition airstrike on Raqqa. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported one death and blamed the Coalition. Mohab Naser named another victim of shelling as Ala’a Al-Deen Mohammed Khair Dandal.
Following an earlier bombing of an ISIL prison in Al Mayadin which allegedly killed upwards of 40 people, Coalition aircraft allegedly targeted a nearby site after bodies of the deceased were laid out for families to identify them. No further civilian casualties were reported, however sources said that the ultimate death toll from both incidents
A single local source, the Nineveh Media center, said that multiple families were still under the rubble after air strikes had hit the Sultan Nuts factory in Old Mosul.
