One girl died in an alleged Coalition airstrike on Raqqa’s al Dari’ya neighbourhood.

According to Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently, “the international Coalition targeted the Al-Thlaji house in al Dari’ya neighborhood next to Al-Hamzawi Hotel west of the city center. The raid led to the death of Manaf Ismail Al-Thlaji’s wife and the wounding of her child, while Isma’il Ali Al-Thlaji lost his sight and had his right hand amputated“.

Raqqa RWB also blamed the Coalition.

Amnesty field research has since discovered that the “woman” was in fact 16. She was killed in artillery strike at her parent’s home while she stood in the courtyard. Munaf’s (her husbands) father who was also there was left blind and Munaf’s mother was badly injured by shrapnel all over; Munaf and Rayan’s baby boy was not injured.

The father-in-law who survived the strike made a testimony to Amnesty International stating that “We were in the courtyard. There was shelling in the distance and then suddenly a shell hit us. Rayan was killed. I lost my sight completely and my wife was badly injured. Now Rayan and Munaf’s baby is an orphan.”

In July 2019 the Coalition announced that it had classed this allegation of civilian harm to be non-credible. Their monthly civilian casualty report noted: “After a review of available information it was assessed that no Coalition actions were conducted in the geographical area that corresponds to the report of civilian casualties.”
