Airwars assessment
At least one civilian, a woman or a child, was killed and three to four others, including women and children, were injured in alleged Russian strikes on the village of Majdalia on November 25, 2021.
Baladi News correspondent in Idlib countryside said that a warplane of the Russian Air Force launched air strikes with high-explosive missiles on the vicinity of the village of “Majdalia” and that the bombing caused the death of a woman and the wounding of three others (seem to be referring to them as being women).
A tweet from @Worldarabsnews also reported that a woman was killed in the strikes and that several other civilians were injured, including children. @zaid__hassn put the number of injuries at four and referred to them as being “olive harvest workers”. A Facebook post by Idlib Urgent also mentioned that four were injured and were in critical condition.
Syrian Network for Human Rights provided the name of the civilian killed: Mrs. Amineh al Khaled. Alshamal Alsouri also mentioned the name of Amineh as being killed and added the names of three others injured: Azzam Raed Qanb, Muhammad Mustafa Qanb, Munir Raed Qanb.
Syrian Civil Defense reported that “Ahmad, 13 years old, was wounded by air strikes while picking olives with his relatives”, adding that he was still being treated for his wounds.
While some of the sources refer to a woman being killed, Facebook posts from Shahin Mohammad and others identify a female child as being killed and provided a graphic image of a child that was said to be Amineh al Khaled, killed in the incident.
@syria55s pointed out that the location of the strikes was a workshop where olive pickers were working, with other sources also referring to the location as agricultural land.
All of the sources that reported on the incident attributed the strikes to Russian forces.
