On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, a civilian was injured by an artillery shelling allegedly perpetrated by Syrian regime forces and/or the Russian military in the town of Marayan in Jabal al-Zawiya in the southern countryside of Idlib.

According to @baladi Twitter/X user, the injured man was taken to a hospital nearby for treatment. Syria TV, Al-Muharrer Media Network, and Revolution Radio also reported about the attack and the civilian casualties resulting from it. Syria TV and Al-Bawasil News Network shared images where smoke rising over the residential buildings can be seen.

Twitter/X user account Omar Zreak posted photos of the area inspected by the Syrian Civil Defense team during the night and found a cylindrical black object. Syrian Civil Defense Twitter/X account also posted an image of the cylindrical black object which seems to be a remnant of the weapons used during the attack.

Multiple sources posted photos of the incident visibly occurring during the evening and identified the Russian military and/or Syrian regime forces as the suspected belligerents.
