Airwars assessment
Shortly before 9:51 AM on Monday, October 30, 2023, at least one civilian man was killed and two others were injured in a double strike with two guided missiles reportedly perpetrated by the Syrian regime forces and/or the Russian and/or Iranian military that hit a civilian car with medical personnel on the Binnish-Taftanaz road in the east countryside of Idlib, Syria.
At 11:30 AM, the Syrian Civil Defense Twitter/X account posted a video of its staff members attending the incident where the double-guided missile struck a civilian vehicle leading to its burning. The body of the nurse Abdulhamid Ziwani who had died was recovered along with the driver and a doctor who had severe burn injuries from the blaze — all of them members of the Binnish Hospital staff.
Abdulhamid Ziwani was an adult male in his late 20s or early 30s, and a photo of him was posted wearing a black sweatshirt with a reflective white stripe along the edge of the zipper.
The White Helmets cleared the upside-down steaming vehicle and multiple of its parts were visibly spread on the ground where blood was found too.
Most sources identified the belligerent as the Syrian Regime forces. However, Facebook users Abdul Salam Ibrahim Hussein, the Idlib Governorate Radio, and Omar Al-Talawi pointed out the involvement of the Russian and Iranian military. Therefore, Airwards has graded the Strike Status as Contested.
The incident occured at approximately 9:51 am local time.
The victims were named as:
