Airwars assessment
Shortly before 3:43 PM on Thursday, November 28th, 2024, missile strikes carrying cluster bombs with contested responsibility allegedly perpetrated by the Syrian regime and/or Russian military and/or Iranian-backed militant groups in the town of Falyoun, in the southern Idlib countryside, Syria, injured at least one civilian, a child.
Al Moherer in a post via Facebook identified the “Iranian militias and the regime” that has used “long-range cluster missiles to target areas in the Idlib countryside, and one of those missiles fell on the town of Falyoun” as responsible. The source reported that the attack injured a child in the initial toll.
At 3:43 PM, the Twitter/X account of the Syrian Civil Defense (@SyriaCivilDefe), also known as the “White Helmets”, reported civilian casualties as the initial toll after “a bombing with missiles carrying cluster bombs by the regime and Russia targeting the town of Faylon.” The Facebook account of Shams provided a similar civilian casualty toll, identifying it as the initial toll, and claimed that Syrian Regime forces and the Russian military were responsible for the cluster bomb attack.
The account Radyo, via Facebook, posted a video of the attack which showed a view from a terrace or balcony, overlooking a natural landscape beyond the parapet. In the distance, smoke was visible, rising from an area identified as Falyoun.
The incident occured at approximately 3:43 pm local time.
