Airwars assessment
Between four and eight civilians including a child died and as many as dozens more were wounded in airstrikes on the town of Haian, local media reported. The majority of sources attributed the event to Russia, though one also mentioned the Assad regime was involved.
The highest death count (eight non-combatants) was given by Baladi – though this source didn’t identify the culprit.
But most reports said that seven civilians including a child died – and blamed Russia. The Syrian Network for Human Rights put the death toll lower at four civilians, also including a child.
According to Slnnews, the regime may also have been involved. It reported that “seven civilian including children were killed and more than a dozen others wounded in an air strike with explosive barrels – by the regime and Russia – on civilian homes in the town of Hayyan”.
The local time of the incident is unknown.

Reports of the incident mention the town of Hayyan (حيان), for which the generic coordinates are: 36.32417, 37.05886. Due to limited satellite imagery and information available to Airwars, we were unable to verify the location further.
